La Locanda - Via del Mercato is a captivating culinary jewel nestled in the heart of Agropoli, Italy, offering an authentic taste of Southern Italian cuisine with a heartfelt family touch. This cozy, family-run restaurant perfectly marries the regional flavors of Campania with breathtaking panoramic views of the sea, creating a dining experience that is as visually stunning as it is delicious.
Guests are welcomed into an intimate terrace setting, where the warm Mediterranean breeze and jaw-dropping sunset views set a serene ambiance that elevates every meal. The atmosphere exudes genuine hospitality—modest yet profoundly welcoming—which makes diners feel less like customers and more like treasured guests.
The menu at La Locanda is a celebration of local ingredients brought to life with exquisite simplicity. One standout dish worth savoring is the figliata—a monumental mozzarella cheese ball bursting with about ten smaller mozzarella pearls, all resting on a vibrant bed of freshly chopped tomatoes. This dish isn’t just food; it’s an artistic exploration of creamy, rich textures and fresh, sun-kissed flavors that linger delightfully on the palate.
Beyond that, the culinary journey continues with both traditional and surprising treats. The complimentary dessert of chilled limoncello coupled with tiny bowls of jewel-like pomegranate seeds is an elegant conclusion that refreshes and delights the senses. Pair your meal with local Belgian beer or the warm notes of regional wines, enhancing the richness of the flavors and the convivial vibe of the restaurant.
Repeatedly praised for warm, attentive service, La Locanda’s staff embodies the spirit of Southern Italian hospitality. Even when language barriers arise, kindness and genuine care easily bridge any gap—highlighted by a friendly waitress who ensures every guest feels at home. Families are especially welcomed; children become part of the charm here, with the cozy environment fostering fond memories and eager returns.
Whether you are a first-time visitor marveling at the hidden gem tucked away beside larger establishments or a returning patron drawn back by its magnetic charm, La Locanda offers something truly special. It's a place where every bite tells a story of tradition, passion, and the simple joy of sharing great food in great company. If your travels bring you to Agropoli’s Casco Vecchio, this restaurant isn’t just a recommendation – it’s an absolute must-visit.

What awesome food and service. We had a figliata which is a huge mozzarella cheese ball with about 10 small balls inside it all on a bed of chopped tomatoes - amazing. Then dessert of limoncello and little bowls of pomegranate seeds. Grazie Mille for an unforgettable experience

Stunning view from the terrace, good food for agreeable price, good service. Although Luciano does not speak English, the very kind waitress does. We are here for the second time as I’m writing this review. I heartily recommend this restaurant to everyone.

The food here is local and very delicious, the prices better than fair. The people at the restaurant are the best. They seem modest, but the quality they offer is high. Also, I never felt this welcome in any other restaurant. So nice. We are a family of four, and the kids felt well too, in fact they want to eat here all time and work here when they grow up

A hidden gem. Easy to miss next to the big restaurants, but significantly better than everything nearby. Definitely our favourite place in Agropoli: small, full of personality, and great food.
